Outside Fredericksburg, Texas, Jung Road dips down and crosses the moody and beautiful Pedernales river. The limestone and tannins speak to me of colors and of the tough beauty of Texas and its wildlife. It's the long way 'round for us and yet we find ourselves often heading home that way, because at river level, there is always opportunity to see Green Herons, a Whitetail or box turtles warming themselves on a stone in the morning sun.
